Reviews zu Lenas Konzert im Troubadour, LA am 30.05.2010:

I have nothing but positive words to say about her performance. It was so unexpectedly good, okay she was a bit nervous also, but that's just normal because it was her first big show with the band and backing vocals singers and all.

I loved every single song, her voice really improved, it shows that the singing lessons are paying off. Her voice sounds much better and lovely and also full of energy. Don't remember last time when I saw Lena so full of energy, *enjoying* herself, screaming, jumping, dancing, being 'in touch' with the audience. It was super mega fantastic. She spread so much joy, energy and good vibe around everyone and it showed through some videos, I can imagine for those who were *present* there it was an amazing and unforgettable experience.

The t.A.T.u. songs sang by her are very cool, I especially enjoyed Craving & HSIN. Fantastic. Also Outer Space was cool and FOTW sounded better than when she sang it acoustic. Okay, maybe ATTSS shouldn't have been sang, 'cause oh well, but on the other side it was, is and it always be like a stamp for t.A.T.u. so it's understandable, she, as a part of t.A.T.u. to sing it. So I am not complaining!

The new songs are w.o.w., I liked them since the first time I heard them, I didn't need a second listening for them to grow on me. Especially Stay &World. Stay is really cool and catchy and World just blows me away, the melody, the lyrics. Freaking awesome. <3 So addictive. Also IRS is cool, sounds amazing, but I need to listen to the lyrics first, to understand 'em better. Well, think that's all so far.

Ah, the guys from the band were amazing as well, Troy rocked, as usually and Svenny is *always* so great & sweet. Steve was cool too and the back singers were super, a great idea. One of the is *really* uhm, HOT?! Haha. The one with the straight hair, wonder what's her name? Someone knows? Haha!

My honest congrats for this amazing show. Wish you the best of luck, you deserve it for being so hard-working, talented, down to earth and friendly persons and then needless to say talented artists. <3

What i hear is a powerfull voice. Lena is now singing with her all body and with a lot of energy.

ATTSS : we clearly see that it's hard for her to reach the high notes "this is not enouuuugh" and maybe they should try to change this part or let the two other girls do it to let Lena having a little break.
But this is great that she managed to do it.
Powerfull voice and a lot of energy.

30 minutes : one more time powerfull voice. But she already did a great job on this song with Yulia so nothing more to add. Great :D
And people are singing one more time but well...

Craving : she did a great job too.
She trained her vibrato a lot. The high part of the song is always hard to sing.
She did it great and awesome vocal singing during the musical interlude. That gave me shivers.
And she does many dynamics (piano, forte)
I simply loved that. It is just awesome. Lena gave a new reborn to this song that unfortunately wasn't sung live during t.A.T.u. gigs.

How Soon is Now :
Just great :D
She is better than the before.

FOTW :
That is just so awesome with this rockish sound :D
And she gives so much energy on the chorus ! Looking how she held her body, you clearly see that she uses it like a singer.
That give a sort of rockish voice that i love.
And i love her attitude on the stage

New song : Stay ?
I really loved this song.
But I wonder if Troy made some mistakes on his guitar lol.
It sounds a bit weird sometimes.
But it's a great song :D
Lena sounds childish a bit yeah.
I think she should use her vibrato on the chorus to make it sound more mature. ;-)
Great solo from Troy :D

The new songs are so rockish and so great. :D

Lena manages now to sing high notes at a more powerfull level than before.
It is just great to see the work done with the vocal manager.
Dynamics are great and well done, so much energy.
Great vibrato, great great great !
She has done a wonderful job on her voice.
And really good attitudes on the stage. No need for dances. It's good how it is.
I see here a real great singer becoming.

What can i say more ?

Musicians are always always so professional and great.
A good singer + good musicians :
What can you expect more than great authentic music ?

My report:
First of all i want to say Thanks To Lena Katina. Lena Thanks SO SO SO much for all!! maybe i didn't tell you this because i was SO nervous every time you were close to me, every time you talked to me i didn't know what to say somehow you made me feel nervous that's why i didn't say much when you came to me and talked after the concert and when i was leaving Sven's house. Lena you were AWESOME at the concert, your moves, your voice i love it!!!! you are always so sweet with me and caring, thanks! i hope some day i will be able to tell you all of this things, without getting nervous or with my red face :P I love you also many many thanks to Olga, Boris and Svenny! you guys did a lot for me! thanks for letting me stay at the sound check, and thanks SO much for invite me to the after party and for letting me invite fans for the after party too.

Aurora (Purple on this forum), Mario and I were at the venue around 5 pm for the sound check, Victor was a bit late because he couldn't find parking xD We waited for Olga, Boris and Lena around 20 min, when they came we went inside with them. The guys were checking their instruments and Lena went upstairs for her make up. Aurora, Victor, Mario and I were really excited to see how Lena and the guys were playing and checking the instruments, that was so cooool!! after around an hour Olga and Boris showed me where we were going to sell the posters and the CD's, btw they asked me if we could help them selling sutff before and after the concert, i agreed because i think that was super cool :P so Victor helped me to sell the things while Aurora and Mario were saving us space for the concert. Around 8 30 we started to sell the stuff, it was so cool to see how people bought it, i even bought posters and Cd's xD . 10 min before the concert Olga came to me and told me to go because the concert was going to start. So Victor and I went to the stage and jump down to our places that were next to Aurora and Mario. Then the concert started , OMG i was sooo excited, a girl name Katya(i dont know how to spell it) was filming for management with a professional camera, and later you guys will get those videos, hopefully on the Official fan American web page. We got to see a new Lena, she jumped, moved, play with her hair and sing all at the same time on stage, she was awesome, i was screaming like crazy!! :P my throat hurt a lot after the concert even now a bit xD we sang along all the song we knew, in the middle of the concert she took a bottle of water that was on the stage, that bottle was mine :P she asked if the bottle was hers or anyone.. and i told her it was mine before she drink it and she said something like " Ay Diana diana" xD sadly i couldnt record it cuz my camera run out of battery Sad but my friend did and she will send me later. Well i think that by now you guys already know what songs she sang so i wont mentioned it . I love all of the songs that she sang, the last one NGGU was really cool how she sang, everyone started to jump and all, we were like crazy xD . It was a great experience! when the concert finished Victor, Aurora, Mario and I went back to the place we were to continue selling the stuff, people were already making a line, cause Lena was going to sign Cd's and posters. After a bit Boris told me that Lena was going to be there in a bit for the signing time. So she came and sat next to us, but later i moved to the other side of the table, Lena started to sign, Olga told me if i wanted to be in the after party and ofc i said yes Angel she also told me that i could invite some friends and i did, i invited Aurora, Mario, Victor, Andrew , Qyu and her friends. The after party was at Sven's place so we drove there in different cars, when we got there Lena and the band was already there, expect for Troy. We were eating and talking, it was super cool!! Lena was soo sweet with her friends and the people who were there,i asked her for a picture and we took one pic together i didn't wanna bother her so much... every time she was close to Victor or Andrew, the guys were so nervous, you guys should see their faces :P they couldn't believe it xD Sven, Boris and Lena were so cool with me, before at the fan meeting Sven told me that i was part of their family it made me feel special so in the after party i felt like i was hanging out with friends, it was just awesome!! Cool around 3 am i had to leave Sad but the girl who was going to drive me to the hotel didn't know how to get there so i asked Boris for help, we went to the studio to find Sven, so he could print some maps for me, while i was there Lena was there with some friends talking and i was kinda nervous xD after a bit Sven came with the map and i said goodbye to Lena, she hugged me twice and kiss my cheeks she also said some things she was sooooo sweeet with me
Then i said good bye to Boris, Sven ,Olga, and the fans. I didn't wanted to leave, but i had to... later Victor, Andrew and Qyu told me that Lena was dancing with them and they had a lot of fun!! im glad
I hope you like my report!

Zitat:
Lena Katina of Russian Sensation t.A.Tu. @ The Troubadour

Kendra Rae Beltran
June 02, 2010

When I was younger there was a duo who hit the MTV generation in a huge way. Years before Madonna and Britney had the kiss heard round the world, Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova of t.A.T.u. were making a lasting impression on pop culture with their risqué "All The Things She Said" video. Over a decade later the two are still making music and good friends, but decided to venture out on solo routes last year. So now Lena Katina is ready to take on the world once again with her melodic, infectious pop hooks and she even gave her fans a treat in Los Angeles at the legendary Troubadour.

I was in middle school when Lena was on the fast track to fame with t.A.T.u and was skeptical if she'd be able to pack the house. I've seen plenty of acts at The Troubadour. The biggest probably being Fall Out Boy, and I can honestly say Lena packed the house fuller than the pop rockers. Her diehard fans definitely proved me wrong. One fan flew out from Houston, TX just for the show. Amidst finals, nursing student Julia White didn't even buy a ticket before she hopped on a plane for Lena. "I saw this show on her site and had to be there at all costs," said White who even had a t.A.T.u. tattoo. That was just one fan among the crowd who excitedly waited for the night to begin.

DJ Geoffery F kept the eager crowd entertained while they waited for their Russian songstress. Nothing went over better than when he spun the Eurythmics´ "Sweet Dreams." The crowd was hyped but nothing compared to when Lena and the band took the stage.

Kicking off the show with "Running Blind," one could tell the energy was never going to die down in that room. Sprinkling the set with her own songs and t.A.T.u gems, it was like a wedding; something new, something old, something blue (she sported fabulous blue gloves)...and something borrowed? Well three out of four is good.

"All The Things She Said" instantly sent me back in time. Lena had a tiny technical difficulty but she laughed it off and pulled through which was amazing to see; no diva fits for her. Lena mixed things up giving fans songs they could harmonize with, "Craving" and ones they could get down to, "How Soon is Now."

She also showed off more than her vocal chops when she sat down at the keys and serenaded fans with "Lost in Love." One of the new songs the audience was treated to, "IRS" is destined to be the one to bring put her back into the mainstream in America. It's got a Rihanna, Britney Spears vibe because of its catchy beat but is less robotic than the aforementioned and more natural. Lena closed the set with yet another t.A.T.u. hit, "Not Gonna Get Us." It was a night fans were overtly grateful for and Lena returned the gratitude by meeting them after the show.

Lena Katina is more than a performer; she has grown into an artist. She takes control of the stage with pleasing pop and grabs hold of her dedicated fan base and never ceases to let go until the last note's sung. However, fans will have to wait for more while she finishes up her untitled solo record, but can catch her at Pridefest in Milwaukee, WI. Can't make it out to that and can't wait until the record to drop? Then the anxious looking for their daily "Lena fix" can keep tabs on her through her site.

Ein Bericht zu Lenas Auftritt beim PrideFest in Milwaukee:

damala (tatu.ru-Forum) hat geschrieben:
After Show Report In Two Parts (That Which Won't Get Me In Trouble & That Which Probably Will):

1. That Which Won't Get Me In Trouble:

-Lena looks fantastic, and sounded amazing. Any questions about singing ability/struggling for notes was strictly a function of poor recordings of the Troubadour show. Her voice was powerful and clear.

-She was wearing a beautiful "LBD" (little black dress) with thin straps, a gold necklace, sheer black nylons, and sky-high blue shoes. She complained about her hair, but it looked great.

-The concert went really well and lasted one hour. There was a small amount of trouble with the mic, but they got it sorted out.

-She introduced all the guys and the backup singers (who are lovely, by the way) to the crowd, and sang a line of Not Gonna Get Us "Nas Ne Dagoniat" for a guy in the front who was wearing a t-shirt he'd made that said Nas Ne Dagoniat.

-The vocals on the new songs sounded really good, particularly the one that has the back-beat she taught the crowd to sing at the Troubadour. "Ba ba bada ba bada ba baaaada..." It was hard to judge the background music for the new songs because it was so loud and of course it'll be different on the studio album.

-Lena seemed perfectly at ease and had a lot of stage presence. There were six other people on stage with her, but she was definitely the focus of attention at all times. She was funny and engaging, goofing around with Troy.

-Merchandise! There was merch: t-shirts, posters, and free postcards advertising the free download I see you guys already know about. The crowd must have been full of spies!

2. ...and That Which Probably Will Get Me In Trouble:

-I couldn't help but think while I watched her... Yulia who?

Hey, guys! I just finished uploading the pics of the dolls I made in the fanart section! I'm glad they were well received!

Anyway, this was the greatest show I've ever seen! It was so amazing to finally see a live performace! The audience was great! Nice amount of people singing along and dancing! The only down part is the event organizers. They were a bit too strict with their camera/video policy. I mean, I just read that even OLGA was told to stop filming?? WTF! So, I didn't really get any pics worth mentioning. Just quickly snuck a quick shot of our view from the crow's nest. I would have tried taking more, but I didn't want to risk getting my stuff possibly confiscated.

We got to the VIP check-in around 7:30pm. After a brief bag search and getting felt up...er...patted down (...the closest a guy has ever come to my no-no parts ), we were given VIP passes on lanyards and led up to the viewing area. It was on an elevated portion of the stage. We could see everyone real well. Especially Troy, lol! Lena looked amazing! They played the same set as the Troubadour show, which was epic! The crowd was really into music! A few fans had signs and shirts in the front rows. Lena acknowledged them a bit. She was very energetic and upbeat! Lots of dancing and jumping (in HIGH HEELS ) and messing with Troy! You could tell she was having a great time! It was just super seeing them perform for such a big and energetic crowd! I loved it! I gotta admit though, I got a little misty when she sang "Lost in this Dance".

After the show, we were escorted to the meet-n-greet tent. We were lined up single file and escorted in one at a time. Circe and I were at the back of the line, which I was glad for cause that way there wouldn't be as many people waiting behind us and give us a little more time. When we got to the front, I asked if Circe wanted to go in with me. Lena was alone for the most part. When we got in, I greeted her and asked if she was satisfied with the show. She just said "I'm never satisfied with the show, but the audience was just great!" I had her sign my D&M Tour book and VIP pass, and then asked if she wouldn't mind having the guys come over so Circe and I could give them all their gifts. Lena sent for them and after getting an "official" photo taken with her, we waited for the guys. This was where the officials started getting on my nerves. A guy said if we were done we needed to go. I just looked at him and said we were waiting for the band. Then he said we could wait outside the VIP area and "if she approves it," they'd come get us. Um, dude, she just sent for them! What do you mean "if she approves"? *facepalm* So, we went outside the gate and barely 2 minutes later went RIGHT back in. Pointless, I know, huh? Anyway, the guys had showed up and Lena told them that we'd asked for them to come. By then, the rest of the VIP holders had left, so it was just me and Circe with them. We talked a little and joked around. They asked how we liked the show. Of course, it was epic! I joked it only took me 8 years to finally see them and Sven laughed saying "I know, I know, I know! If I was in charge, we'd have been everywhere!" They're great to talk to! I handed them my D&M book to sign and they seemed really surprised by it cause they'd never seen it before. They asked where they could get it, so I passed that on for them. ;-)* When they found out how much I paid for it, they said "Whoa! Really? Let's make it worth that much, then!" LOL! While Circe was giving her gifts, I was talking to Troy about Seattle since he asked where I traveled from. I joked that Lena would like it cause it's very green and not a concrete jungle, lol! I'm not sure why, but we needed to hurry, so I started handing them their dolls. They really liked them, which I was really stoked about! I got hugs from the guys and even a kiss on the cheek from Steve! I then gave Lena the dolls of her and Volkova. She seemed to really like them and said she'd even give Volk her doll since she'd be seeing her soon! I wasn't expecting that, so that's awesome! So, before we had to go, they got a couple of group pics of me and Circe with the band! It was really exciting! I'm so glad we were able to get a little extra time with them! After we left, I got a pic of Kristin and her friend with Steve's drumstick that she got! Score!

Aside from the durrr-ness of the event officials, the concert was an amazing experience and hopefully she gained some new fans in a crowd that big! I'm so happy I was able to take part. Totally worth the trip!

My experience at Pridefest 2010 - Lena Katina concert…

Note: I saw that a few others wrote about their experience so I figured I’d do so as well.

When I heard about Lena’s first solo gig at the 2010 Pridefest in Milwaukee, WI, I bought the tickets 5 minutes after they went on sale and scrapped together my money for the flight from my home in Pennsylvania. I’ve been a fan of t.A.T.u and particularly Lena since for the last 8 years since I was 14. I had never met her or Yulia before and never seen either of them in concert, so I jumped at the opportunity.
I’ve never been much of a fan of Pridefests, but the Milwaukee fest was not too bad. However, I enjoyed the festival across the river better where my girlfriend and I got to kayak and rock climb for free. After six hours we were both tired but so excited for the concert to begin.
The security process for the VIP ticket holders was a bit chaotic and annoying. I checked in and rather than sitting in the VIP deck that overlooked the stage, I opted to sit with my girlfriend in the main audience. The Miller Lite stage was really great and HUGE!! My girlfriend and I were in the first row of the available seats, however, the first 9 rows were blocked off for the headliner Patti Labelle’s ticket holders. I was perturbed by this, but figured I’d make the best of it. However, Boris came out and told the security to allow us in the rows for the concert. I was so happy! I grabbed my stuff and ran up to the first row. I ended up in the middle of the first row, about 4 ft from the stage.
The concert was absolutely amazing! Her voice was flawless! The music was of course unbelievably fantastic and she looked hotter than ever! The audience was really pumped up; shouting “lena” before the concert and “encore” after the concert. I could tell Lena was a bit nervous at first but she quickly loosened up and was dancing sexily all around the stage – flipping her hair around and playing around with Troy.
Towards the end of the concert, I ran up to the VIP deck for the meet and greet. The anticipation was nearly fatal as we all stood in line waiting to meet her. Finally after what seemed like FOREVER, she ran past us and into the meet and greet tent to do an interview. Then we finally got to meet her! It was great being with others who finally knew exactly how I felt. I can talk till I’m blue in the face to my friends and family but they never could really understand how I felt about t.A.T.u or Lena. So, I talked a little bit with the other VIP ticket holders and found that they were just as excited as I was.
When it was finally my turn, I took a deep breath and walked forward. It was amazing to me how tiny she is. I’ve always hated people saying that she was fat, because she DEFINITELY IS NOT!! But she is even more petite than I had expected. We were about eye to eye in height (I’m only 5’2”). She had a huge smile as I greeted her and when I gave her my favorite picture of her to sign she laughed and said something to Zhenya in Russian (damn I wish I knew what she said!). Anyways… she signed it for me and I gave her the bag of presents I had for her. We talked briefly and took our picture…and let me tell you guys…when she put her arm around me I almost melted! She was so warm and kind and smelled wonderful! I will never forget that night for the rest of my life! I look forward to the release of the album and meeting her again! My girlfriend had known about t.A.T.u. but wasn’t a very big fan. After seeing the concert she is a huge fan and is no longer jealous of my infatuation with Mrs. Katina. She says I’ve been replaced!! Haha

just wanna share my experience meeting Lena's .....
First of all I've been a fan since the first T.A.T.U album, and when I read she was coming to Milwaukee I was so exited. I could hardly wait for the day to come. I knew about the meet and great but I couldn't afford it so I told my boyfriend we had to make a sign saying we wanted to meet her. That day we went to the stage like 2 hours before. We were chatting with other fans and exchanging memories and how exiting was to see her for first time. Like 15 min before security told us we had to leave as that was a reserved area, even though we asked at the entrance if we had to pay extra to be in that area and they said no, I resisted to move from there and my boyfriend was arguing and wanting to talk to the security manager, and when they were just about to kick us out, like a miracle the guy that was telling us to leave said we could stay but leave before the next artist.
Finally she came out, so beautiful and little bit nervous, I was just jumping non stop, it was like a dream, the whole concert was great but the best part was that she was making lots of eye contact with me, she read my sing and my shirt that said Not Gonna get Us in Russian, you can actually see in one of the videos when she gave me thumbs up when she was performing the song.
At the end of the concert I went to the area next to the stage holding my sing for long time hoping to see her.
Then she was passing by to the meet and greet area and when I screamed her name she saw me, then we ran to the entrance and a lovely person "Rachel Sage", the performer before Lena, asked us if we wanted to meet her, so she told security.
Couple minutes after another guy asked if we were the guys with the "sign" we automatically said yes, then he left and a minute after the same guy comes back saying Lena wanted to see us.
I was in shock, I couldn't believe she even remembered us, finally they told us to come in and wait by the fence, and there she was talking to some girls and when she saw us she told us to get closer, she told me "I cant believe you know all the song", I told her I've been follow them for long time. we were chatting for more than five minutes, she signed some CD covers the photographer took the pic, Lena told her assistant to take a pic for her and then the same assistant told her thaty have to leave, she hugged us and we left, in the way out somebody told my boyfriend that meant lots for her.
We went out still in shock when finally I got to meet Lena.
